It seems like such a simple passion – writing a blog – yet, here I sit, days into research, lists of tech terms I don’t know, and anxiety about what to say.
So, I’ll begin with what I know.
What I know for sure is that I am excited to write again. As an English teacher for grades 7-12, the illusion is that I write every day. And I do. Grammar corrections, daily objectives, and lesson plans (oh my!) are all writing, but they don’t do the job I need them to. The writing I require sets my soul on fire (yes, you may use this as a song lyric) and while a daily blog might not do this every single day, it’s a step in my creative journey. I’m excited, nervous, and energized by the idea of this and what it could be in the future.
Is it narcissistic to want to come back to this post in a year and see the difference in where I am in my life? Perhaps. Blogging is, after all, a diary publicized to the world and more often than not, it’s centered on the person who writes it. But I love this form, its fluidity to change the way people do. The wave-like nature is comforting, yet daunting in its depths.
I’ll end my first post with this promise – to always tell the truth, especially when I don’t want to, and to be as authentic as I possibly can be. If you want to follow along on what I hope is an exciting and upward journey, I’d love the company.
